Mulan Huangpi

Out of concern from our beloved university for the mental health of international students and in appreciation from the International Students Office for what some students may suffer from being far from their original country and trying to entertain them and alleviate the pressures of academic life, the International Students Office has organized an enjoyable trip to one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the city of Wuhan. It is the Huangpi Mulan Culture Tourism Area.

The Huangpi Mulan Culture Tourism Area is in the Huangpi District of Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. Mulan, a brilliant female general during the Southern and Northern Dynasties (420 - 589), was born here. Mulan Mountain, Mulan Heavenly Lake, Mulan Grassland, and Mulan Yunwu Mountain dominate the landscape.

In the old Chinese feudal system, the female gender was not allowed to leave the house, let alone command an army to combat foes. Mu Lan's father, however, was too elderly to travel to the war, so she disguised herself as a male to join the army. She fought numerous foes and became a representative female commander in Chinese history as a result of her bravery and ability.

Mountain Mulan

With a summit of 580 meters (1,900 feet), the mountain in Huangpi Mulan Culture Tourism Area is not only an outstanding national geological park, but also one of Hubei Province's most famous Taoism mountains. Up on the mountain, there are ancient religious building complexes like as the Pavilion of Jade Emperor and Goddess Temple, which covers 30,100 square meters (36,000 square yards). There are also two more locations worth visiting: The Ancient Village Area and the Stone Scenic Area.

The Ancient Village Area is located on the summit of Qisi Peak, Mu Lan Mountain's major peak. It is 3,000 square meters (3,588 square yards) in size. The first historic village was a beacon tower constructed in 1259 that was later turned into a military fort in 1853. The Mu Lan Hall and the South Gate to Heaven are two of its key attractions. The Stone Scenic Area, on the other hand, is 40,000 square meters (47,800 square yards) in size. Many different types of stones with various shapes are on show here, with some resembling human faces, chessboards, and Buddha, to mention a few.

Heavenly Lake of Mulan

Mulan's grandmother's house is reported to be in the region, and young Mulan used to train martial arts here. Huangpi Mulan Culture Tourism Area's Lake is 32 square kilometers (12 square miles) in size and is known for its magnificent waterfalls, deep ponds, unusual stones, and peculiar plants.

A large canyon with a length of 5 kilometers (5,500 yards) links a little and a large holy lake. The large celestial lake is really a reservoir constructed in 1978. Visitors may hike down this lengthy gorge to reach the large heavenly lake on top of the mountain, from where they can see the entire Mu Lan Heavenly Lake Scenic Area.

Visitors may continue their exploration by renting a boat or using the ropeway across the lake. A one-way ticket for each option costs CNY 30. Two further bridges, known as the Grandmother Bridges, were also constructed. The wooden bridge is in the Grandmother Garden at the top of the mountain, while the other is built of stone. Mu Lan would have to cross these two bridges to see her grandma.

Grassland of Mulan

This is the sole grassland in China's central area where young Mulan rode his horse and performed martial arts. When she beat the enemy and returned home, several troops would follow her. Because the majority of them are nomads, she gave them the grassland, which they adopted as their home. Eagles are widespread in this area and are regarded as friendly mates by the nomads. Visitors can also attempt horseback riding here.

It was a very beautiful initiative from the university’s International Students Office to accompany us on this interesting and exciting trip to learn about the geography of the region and learn about the history of one of the most important female figures in the history of China and the world.

I personally enjoyed visiting this place very much, not only with its stunning views and valuable ancient landmarks, but also with the friendly and loving treatment of the people that I felt.
