Colleges and Relevant International Students:

To further improve the teaching quality of Chinese courses for international students, the specific matters concerning the application for Chinese course exemption for international students in 2025 are hereby notified as follows:

1. Scope of Applicants and Exempted Courses

The target applicants are international students who have not taken the Elementary Chinese course.International students who meet the exemption requirements may apply for exemption from the Elementary Chinese course.

2. Requirements for Application for Exemption

International students who meet the following requirements may apply for exemption from the Chinese course for international students:

Having passed the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Level 3 or above.

3. Application Procedures and Schedule

1.Postgraduate students shall submit the exemption application in the postgraduate integrated system through the interface of "My Training" - "Application for Exemption, Retake and Deferred Exam" - "Application for Exemption" and upload the relevant supporting materials before 17:00 on Sep 15.( That will be Chinese 1 and 2, do not only choose one)

2.Supervisors shall review the students' applications in the postgraduate integrated system through the interface of "Training Work" - "Management of Exemption, Retake and Deferred Exam" - "Review of Exemption" and submit the approved applications to the college for further review before 17:00 on Sep 18.(Remind your professor to approve before this date)

3.Colleges shall review the students' applications in the postgraduate integrated system through the interface of "Training" - "Management of Exemption, Retake and Deferred Exam" - "Exemption Management - College" and submit the approved applications to the Graduate School for recheck before 17:00 on Sep 24.

4.After the Graduate School completes the recheck and approves the applications, the results will be publicly announced.

4. Recognition of Exempted Course Scores

For postgraduate students who apply for exemption and are exempted from the exam:

Those who have passed HSK Level 3 will have their scores recorded as 65 points.

Those who have passed HSK Level 4 will have their scores recorded as 75 points.

Those who have passed HSK Level 5 will have their scores recorded as 85 points.

And they will obtain the corresponding course credits.

5. Other Matters

1.Postgraduate students who meet the requirements must complete the exemption procedures within the specified time; no applications will be accepted after the deadline.

2.Applicants must ensure that the submitted materials are true and valid. Those who fabricate materials will be treated as cheating in exams.
