The International Student Volunteer Center (ISVC) was established by the International College of Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) in 2016 to promote volunteerism within the international community. In collaboration with the International Student Office, ISVC supports international students in academic guidance, daily living assistance, and extracurricular engagement. This guide outlines the roles of each department, promoting a spirit of mutual support while developing essential skills for personal and professional growth.

We warmly welcome all HZAU students from China and foreign countries who aspire to facilitate scientific and cultural exchange between Chinese and overseas students to join us.

Here in HZAU-ISVC, you are offered more opportunities to:

There is a wide range of departments for you to join according to your interest and the competence you wish to showcase in the HZAU-ISVC: Department of Secretary and Publicity, Department of Scientific Research and Development, Department of Living Services, and Department of Culture Exchange and Sports Activities.

1. The Department of Cultural Exchange and Sports Activities serves as a connecting hub for fostering cross-cultural understanding through various activities. It organizes events such as the annual HZAU students gala show, sports competitions in male and female categories (including volleyball, cricket, football, badminton, and short marathon), linguistic activities, and recreational events like movie nights, cultural attire, tea culture, food festivals, singing performances, drama and comedy nights, modeling, and dance shows. It also includes seasonal celebrations, i.e., New Year celebration events, and further enriches campus life. Department of Cultural Exchange also enhances communications among Chinese and international students to help students get a deeper understanding of Chinese history and customs for making a friendly working environment, facilitating their integration into Chinese society.

2. The Department of Living Services is mainly responsible for the management of daily life, services, and consultancy of international students. These responsibilities include distributing public items, maintaining quiet, clean, and orderly dormitories, assisting with room relocations, accommodations, and dormitory maintenance, and organizing awareness campaigns on Chinese laws, school regulations, and student responsibilities. The department helps international students feel at home and supports their successful integration into campus life. The department also monitors international students' living conditions, gathers their feedback, and provides suggestions to the International Student Office to enhance the quality of student life.

3. The Department of Scientific Research and Development is dedicated to organizing various academic events, including workshops, seminars, symposiums, competitions, and lectures presented by esteemed professors from HZAU and institutions worldwide. These activities include the Best Paper Award, Scientific Research Series, Annual Academic Competition, and Scientific Cafe Series. With a focus on enriching international students' scientific and research careers, the department actively introduces advanced knowledge and innovative skills. By taking a proactive approach in planning and executing these initiatives and collaborating closely with professors and scholars, the department ensures students have an impactful learning experience that promotes both academic and professional growth.

4. The Department of Secretary and Publicity is in charge of coordination and external liaison within the ISVC. This department often works in the International Students Office, contributing to activating coordination with other departments and enhancing effective communication within the center. The department also enhances communication with the dorm management office and ISO staff. The department is responsible for translating notices, documents, and news updates that belong to the department's work. The department also checks international students' monthly attendance. Additionally, it promotes the center's work on different social media platforms, enhancing visibility and engagement with the international student community.

5. Senior Advisors serve as the primary consultative committee within the center, comprised of experienced seniors who offer guidance on strategic initiatives and operational matters. Senior Advisors collaborate closely with various departments, offering expertise in policy formulation, program development, and conflict resolution. Their role is to support the sustainable growth of the center and facilitate a supportive, enriching environment for both students and volunteers.

Volunteers of the HAZU Volunteer Center of International Students shall agree to

1. Abide by Chinese law and regulations as well as HZAU school disciplines;

2. Observe relevant regulations of the International Students Office and HZAU’s financial management;

3. Not to carry out any religious and political activities;

4. Respect different countries’ customs and religious beliefs without ethnic and gender discrimination;

5. Report to ISO teachers and obtain ISO teachers’ consent before undertaking certain activities.

If you intend to apply for coordinator (vice) or volunteer positions in the Center’s department, please complete the different application formsand submit them to the International Student Office(216) before Friday, May 30.
